He married (3) TABITHA HATFIELD March 15, 1890, daughter of AIL HATFIELD and REBECCA SUMMERS. She was born December 18, 1858 in Hartville, Missouri father in kentucky, and died October 06, 1943 in Centerville, Iowa.

Lieut. in the Iowa 3rd Cavalry, 2nd Pattalion, COm. B commanded by Capt. Elisha D. Skinner, Lewis and Daniel Edwards served under him as well.

The Southern Border Brigade

While attention was still focused on the northern frontier, Confederate irregulars began cross-border raids into southern Iowa. Three hundred refugee families from Missouri, most with Union sympathies, left their homes and fled north across the Iowa border. In response to the threat, Governor Kirkwood authorized the formation of a "Southern Border Brigade," to be raised in the southern two tiers of counties.
Within months, 1,500 Iowa volunteers were ready for action. They began patrolling the border and supporting Union troops which had been sent in response to a Confederate buildup near the Grand River in Missouri. While the federal troops concerned themselves with the 1,200-man force at the Grand River, the militia guarded lines of supply through Iowa.
In October of 1864, the largest raid occurred in Davis County. A number of Confederate irregulars, dressed in Union uniforms, came across the border. They robbed a number of Davis County farms, took hostages and shot two Union veterans. As the account of James Jackson, the lieutenant commanding the local militia, reads: "The news soon reached the (county) fairgrounds; the fair was broken up, and men hurried to the town. He arsenal was opened, arms and ammunition distributed, companies were formed in line of battle, horses cut loose from wagons and carriages without reference to who owned them, and mounted by armed men." The raiders fled, some being captured the next month.
When the Civil War came to an end, the men of the Southern Border Brigade were discharged. So ends the story of the brave Iowans who answered the call to service.

In 1870, a partnership of the Edwards brothers and their father, for the raising, buying and shipmentof livestock.
Daniels wife Jeannette died sometime between July of 1877, and 1879.
Daniel remarried on February 10, 1879. His 2nd wife was Martha Fidelia "Deli" A. Mitchell, who was born around 1858 in Iowa.No further records.
Daniel 3rd married widow Tabitha (Hatfield) Mulanix on March 15, 1890.Tabitha was born on December 18, 1858 in Hartville, Missouri, daughter of Ail Hatfield and Rebecca Summers. She had been married to Thomas Mulanix in 1877 and had three children: Mary Frances Mulanix: Paul Mulanix and Ail Mulanix. Thomas died on June 19, 1884.
Daniel was a farmer, stockman and business man in and around Moulton and he died on March 4, 1923 while visiting his daughter and her family, Dolly Edwards Davis in Holyoke, Colorado. His body was returned to Moulton and he was buried in the Oakland Cemetery. Apparently, Tabitha and Daniel lived apart for many years.
Tabitha lived for many years in a part of Moulton, called Elizabethtown or Bestyville. She died on October 6, 1943, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Centerville, Iowa. She was buried on October 10, 1943 in the Oakland cemetery, next to Daniel.

daughter of HENRY BURGESS and MARY JACKSON. She was born October 15, 1895 in Berkeley, West Virginia, and died June 21, 1978 in Newton, Iowa.

He was the son of 2. Daniel Edwards and 3. Tabitha Hatfield. He married (1) Elsie Burgess August 19, 1913 in Moulton, Iowa. She was born October 15, 1895 in Berkeley, West Virginia, and died June 18, 1978 in Newton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry Robert Burgess and Mary Thomasina Jackson.

He attended and graduated from the Moulton Public school were he played football and could recount many memorable plays. He married Elsie Virginia Burgess.

In 1913, Otis moved with other members of the immediate family to Montana to homestead, along with Otis and Elsie, were Elsie's father and mother; Elsie's sister Edith and her family, and Otis's half-brother Purl Mulanix. Each family filed on a section of Montana's vast prairie land. When Otis and his family returned from their home steading trial in Montana in 1922, victims of a prolonged drought, he opened a tailoring and dry-cleaning shop in Moulton. He sold tailor-made suits. He was for many years a member of the school board, town council, and treasurer of the United Methodist Church. One of his happiest civic duties was the annual procurement of a carnival company to play the Moulton Jamboree.

Otis was staunch Republican all his life and careful observer the political scene. During the Second World War, he took a war job at the Iowa Ordinance Plant where he was foreman of the 'melt line'.While doing this work he contracted 'TNT poisoning which turned his hair and fingernails a chemical yellow. This was soon cured. Otis was three-star War Dad and was very Proud of his military sons.In 1949, Otis purchased the local billiard hall which he operated until hes retirement in 1964. At this time, his son, Ronald took over the operation.
Otis and Elsie were life-long Methodists, Otis was a member of the Masonic Lodge.Otis and Elsie had 10 children, Otis lived a long life to the age of 76 he passed awayon December 22, 1968, in Bloomfield, Iowa.
He is buried in the family plot in Oakland Cemetery,Moulton, Iowa.

Elsie Edwards died in June 1978. Born October 15, 1895, Elsie Edwards was 82 years old.
The last known place of residence for Elsie Edwards was Moulton, IA.
Elsie was born on a farm at the boundary line of Virginia and West Virginia Called "Apple Pie Ridge" on October 15, 1895.

Elsie came to Iowa with her father and mother when she was 'two and a half. Her father operated Jackson's, a dry good store in Moulton for his brother-in-laws. At the turn of the century, two prominent uncles of Elsie's operated department stores in Missouri. Samuel H. Jackson ran a store at Unionville and his brother, Marshall Jackson maintained a popular department store in Memphis, MO.

Elsie attended the Moulton Public School and graduated in the class of 1913.After which she married Ottis Daniel Edwards son of Daniel Edwards, and Tabitha (Hatfield).On Sunday, August 17, 1913. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. M. Smith at the home of her parents, Robert Henry Burgess, and Mary Tamson (Jackson). On Broadway street in Moulton, Iowa.
She served many years as a Sunday School teacher at the local Methodist Church. Holding a life membership in U.M.W.; past president of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and belonging to the social and cultural organizations.

Elsie had 10 children and lived 83 years, a long life. She passed away June 18 1978, in Newton, Iowa.She was buried on Wednesday June 21, 1978, along side your husband Ottis, in the family plotat Oakland Cemetery, Moulton, Iowa.

Ronald Edwards died in January 1978. Born June 1, 1917, Ronald Edwards was 60 years old.
Ronald Gilmore Edwards was born in Big Sandy, Montana on June 1, 1917.
When he was five years old his parents returned to Iowa. He attended public school in Moulton, Iowa where he graduated from Moulton High School in 1935. Ronald worked in the family, dry-cleaning business. Till moving to St. Louis, Missouri were he worked also in the dry-cleaning business in St. Louis and Sedalia.

He enter the military, were he served three years as head shipping clerk in the Panama Canal Zone during World War II, then later served as a Medic in Germany until the war ended.
In 1953 he married June Virginia Henning daughter of Robert Henning and Elvie (Widel) in St. Louis, Missouri.
They had 4 daughters in 5 years, they were divorced in 1965. At his returned to Moulton, he ran the Moulton Pool Hall and cared for his mother. Ronald was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post#280 of Moulton.
He passed away at the age of 61 from a heart attack. On Saturday January 7, 1978 in Moulton, Iowa.
He was buried in the family plot at Oakland Cemetery.

June Monroe died on September 21, 1991. Born July 9, 1927, June Monroe was 64 years old. June Virgina Henning was born on July 9,1927 her parents are Robert Henning and Elvie G. (Widel).
In 1965 June moved to California with 5 of her 6 children and her 3rd husband James Highers.James moved out with in a year. So June was left to raise her 5 children on her own. She had taken on two jobs to support them all. One for John Mansville as a shipping clerk. And a part-time job as a bartender in the local area. In her later years she owned and operated her own business(J B'S gift World) selling Avon and other gift items.
During the 1970's her mother moved in with the children to help take care of them. They purchased ahome in a suburb of Los Angeles, CA. June worked with many special education groups to help her daughter Linda.

June had many major health problems. She had breast cancer in 1977 as a resulted had a mastectomy to stop the spread of the cancer. But to no vail it returned in the 80's she had cervical cancer.She also had a major heart attack in the early 1980's, then she received a triple bipass operation.
With all the major advances in medicine the doctor's were still unable to stop the spread of cancer,in her body. She had kemo, radium implants and many other experimental processors.In 1990 the cancer returned this time to her ovaries, and the doctors could do nothing. Her pain wasvery sever, in the end she was not able to take care of her self, she went into a nursing home.She passed away from pneumonia complicated from the spread of the cancer.On September 21, 1991 in Los Angeles, CA.
She was buried at Greenhill s Cemetery inSan Pedro, CA.

Some of my family traces back to kings, the first settler s of the New World. Traveled over on the Mayflower Ship's. Other's fou ght for the British. Some have had money and some have been dirt poor. And fought in war's as far back as The Revolutionary War, Serving our fair country at times to the end. Traveled across the nation. I have found one thing in common LOVE for each other our family, and our grea t nation.This is what holds families and countries together. Not just the blood , sweat, and tears. But Love for each other.
Many generations, several wars, migrations over sea and land. Serving many illness, depressions, and undoubtedly many many hardships.
